Andelscott Consulting Limited has developed bespoke database tools for collecting and analysing data.

    Case study The client used a spreadsheet to maintain metrics for companies operating in its target market for benchmarking and reference purposes. With increasing volumes of data, the solution was reaching the limit for practical use. In addition, the client wished to create a multi-user and 'self-service' tool to simplify the creation of customised tables and charts ready for inclusion in consultancy reports.  
    Solution and benefits

We developed a database schema and suite of routines to handle data input and data selection and extraction.

Technologies used: Microsoft IIS webserver, mySQL database, HTML, Javascript, PHP.

Benefits of the approach include the creation of an extensible data structure and provision for analysis using dimensions (such as time-series data) previously not considered practical.
