    Financial modelling - business cases

Experienced in building financial models to support investment appraisals and business cases for private and public sector clients. Apart from the mechanical work of preparing the model (using discounted cash flow or IRR as you prefer), our consultants can work with you to determine the forecast cash flows and benefit streams.

Case study The client was preparing a business case in support of proposed information systems investments. They needed to prepare the option appraisal for each shortlisted option including the "do minimum", supported by the financial appraisals, to determine the affordability and the risks.
    Solution and benefits

Our financial modeller was engaged to deliver a model to present the cash flows for each of the options and calculate the Net Present Value / Internal Rate of Return for each. The model's design promoted rigorous sensitivity analysis whereby the impact of changed key assumptions on option ranking could be rapidly tested and assessed.

Working closely with the client, our consultant identified and costed the financial costs and benefits of each option and populated the model. The outcome was a robust set of projections which were used as the financial basis for the business case and the ultimate investment. The process also led to the documentation of a set of key assumptions and risks for the business case.
